The Community Development Unit team can provide a wide range of advice and support for community and voluntary organisations. This includes establishing groups and governance structures, strategic planning, club leadership, managing finances, obtaining funding and marketing and promotion.
For Advice on Funding contact: 
A trained Secondary School teacher and Exult Sustainable Funding Facilitator, Maryse manages the Council’s community funds and can deliver workshops and provide one-on-one advice to community groups on sustainable funding. This includes looking at key income streams, how to be successful when applying for community funding and how to develop a funding plan so you're not always scrambling for cash.

Community Development Team Leader
Claire has a Graduate Diploma in Not for Profit Management and extensive experience in supporting community groups. Claire can provide one to one advice through the community development team or recommend other support agencies who can assist. She can also provide information on workshops and training sessions in your area.

The Community Development Unit coordinates a range of activities and ‘Knowledge Café’s and Workshops to support community groups to develop their skills and capacity, achieve their own goals and celebrate successes.
Recent Activities
2010 Club Expo
An initiative from local clubs the Community Development Unit project managed the 2010 Club Expo with 75 Clubs showcasing their activities and thousands visiting the event.
Leadership Workshop
A Trevor Johnston Leadership Workshop in 2009 led to the 2010 Club Expo with attendees from the workshop assisting to plan the Expo.
Volunteers Day 09
Local volunteers are thanked annually for their efforts at a celebration hosted by Council on national volunteers day in December.
