This service is a voluntary fortnightly collection using a 240 litre wheelie bin. The service costs $71 for the year though the price reduces depending on the date of purchase. At these prices the service is very attractive. It is even cheaper for those who are Super Gold card holders! How do I purchase the service?
You can purchase the greenwaste service by going in to any of the Council's Library Plus Centres, the Hawera Administration Building or the I-Site Visitor Centre. Alternatively you can phone the Council on 278 0555 or 0800 111 323. Once you have purchased the greenwaste service you will be provided with a sticker which must be placed on the front of your bin. This identifies that you have purchased the greenwaste service and that your bin needs to be oicked up. The colour of the sticker will change each year for ease of identification. How will I know when my bin is to be picked up? When you receive your sticker you will also be given a calendar highlighting the collection days for greenwaste. Or alternatively, you can check out collection times by clicking here. What can I put in this bin? Greenwaste and greenwaste only. That is things like lawn clippings, weeds, branches and other organic waste.
