The Building Act 2004 requires all Councils to adopt a policy on Dangerous, Earthquake-Prone and Insanitary Buildings. This requirement reflects the government’s broader concern for the health and safety of the public in buildings and, more particularly, the need to address safety in earthquakes.
This Council’s Policy reflects the our determination to reduce health and safety risks, including earthquake risk, over time in a way that is acceptable in social and economic terms to the district’s ratepayers
