Hub Health & Fitness Women's Triathlon

2012 marks the return of the Women's triathlon to South Taranaki.

The South Taranaki District Council's i-SITE Events Team have decided to run the triathlon as one of its main events to compensate for the gap that was left when the Contact TriWomen series was moved to New Plymouth a couple of years ago.

It'll consist of a 300m swim at the PowerCo Aquatic Centre, a 10km bike on the back roads of Hawera and a 3km walk/run around the streets of Hicks Park. (Check out the race map here)

The cost to enter is $50 and with this you get a t-shirt and race pack. If you enter after Tuesday 28 February, it is considered a late entry and will rise to $60.

A seven week training programme has been created to help you kick start your training and get you underway! Have a look at it here.

So what are you waiting for? Fill out the entry form and get training!

For any questions, please email event co-ordinator Tarin Hunt.

Practice run through - Saturday 18 February

Join Sue Brown on a practice run for the Hub Health & Fitness Women’s Triathlon. Meet at the PowerCo Aquatic Centre at 9am - it may not be the exact course due to Cricket in King Edward Park but will be close. Come and see how one discipline follows the other and get help with swimming and the bike leg with lots of tips including the use of gears - especially on those hills! Free (normal pool entry applies).

Keep an eye out in the South Taranaki Star every fortnight as the paper follows Hawera local Anita Scott-Dekker and her training for the March triathlon.
