Under the provisions of the Health and Safety at Work Act the South Taranaki District Council must do its part in ensuring the safety of volunteer workers who are doing voluntary work for the Council.
You may simply be a volunteer if you undertake tasks you don’t receive payment or reward for and the voluntary task is of a ‘one off’ nature.
You are a volunteer worker if:
You are doing work as directed by Council and you have been given permission to do the work.
The voluntary work you do is on an on-going basis.
The work is integral to the Council’s business.
For any questions regarding volunteering in the community, what may be required and who to talk to, please contact the Community Services and Development team at firstname.lastname@example.org or phone toll free 0800 111 323.
