There are two Sport New Zealand Rural Travel Fund funding rounds in 2019. The next funding round opens Monday 28 January and closes Thursday 8 March.

Last Round Results – October 2018

Seven applications were received for the last Sport NZ Rural Travel Fund funding round and considered by the Committee on 29 October. A total of $7,600 was distributed to the following successful applicants:

  • Te Kura Kaupapa Maori o Ngati Ruanui - $1,500 towards transporting tamariki to touch each Thursday night and supporting whanau who live out of town
  • Patea Rugby League Club - $1,500 towards assisting with junior grades travel costs for away games in New Plymouth and Waitara, and assisting families needing to travel to Patea for practice
  • Patea Area School - $1,000 towards their three touch teams travel for the season, TSSA Volleyball and TSSA Rugby League
  • Hawera High School - $1,000 towards transport costs for three cricket teams, special olympics and two volleyball teams
  • Te Kura o Nga Ruahine Rangi - $1,000 towards touch rugby travel costs
  • Waverley Primary School - $1,000 towards the purchase of fuel and RUC for the school van to transport students to and from summer sports including cricket
  • Whenuakura School - $600 for transport costs for two touch teams to get to and from Hawera every Thursday in Term 4
