There are two Sport New Zealand Rural Travel Fund funding rounds in 2018.The next funding round opens Monday 3 September and closes Friday 12 October.

Last Round Results – March 2018

Nine applications were received for the last Sport NZ Rural Travel Fund funding round and considered by the Committee on 26 March. A total of $9,600 was distributed to the following successful applicants:

  • Opunake High School – $2,500 for winter sports teams to play in Taranaki-wide competitions after school for Terms 1, 2 & 3
  • Mokoia School - $200 for travel to twilight Tough Rugby at Turuturu Soccer Grounds in Term 4
  • Hawera High School - $1,500 for assisting with transport for 3 cricket teams, Special Olympics, and 2 volleyball teams to play in New Plymouth each week
  • Patea Area School - $1,000 for 4 basketball teams to travel weeknights throughout Taranaki; 1 Junior netball team to travel to Hawera for 10-12 weeks
  • Hawera Hawks Rugby League Club - $1,500 to assist with travel for junior rugby league grades at away games in New Plymouth, tournaments and support families who need to travel to Hawera for practice
  • Okaiawa Tennis Club - $200 to assist with travel costs for travel to interclub matches in Hawera, Manaia and Stratford, and junior tournaments throughout Taranaki
  • St Joseph’s Soccer Club - $1,200 – to assist parents with petrol costs associated with traveling to and from Saturday morning matches
  • Normanby Okaiawa Knights Sports Club Inc – to support children from low income families to participate in sporting activities, who may otherwise miss out due to financial constraints
