Mānuka Conference: February 17 2016, TSB Hub, Hawera, Taranaki
Taranaki will host experts from New Zealand’s rapidly-growing mānuka honey sector at an event aimed at building greater understanding of this industry and its future potential.
Mānuka New Zealand 2016, takes place on 17th February at Hawera’s TSB Hub, and will feature more than a dozen speakers with industry, regulatory, scientific, government, research and land-use connections to mānuka honey and associated products.
Venture Taranaki, organised the event due to growing interest in the sector, and the need to assist those interested in the industry with information to help assess market opportunities, and inform primary sector diversification options. The conference will cover, not only the growth and economic possibilities but also risks and costs of involvement.
The conference is anticipated to be of interest to businesses, farmers, landowners, professional advisers, rural consultants, honey producers, bee keepers, Central Government, Councils, regional development agencies and local leaders.
Speakers include: MBIE, Federated Farmers, Manuka Farming New Zealand, Massey University, Watson and Sons, Te Tumu Paeroa, Taranaki Regional Council and Trees for Bees as well as practical case studies. Interest is anticipated not only from Taranaki but throughout the country.
