Reading Challenge for Opunake Students

Reading Challenge for Opunake Students

Thursday, May 07, 2015

So many books and just 10 weeks to read them! That's what Opunake High School students are saying about the Opunake Reading Challenge being held throughout May and June.

In a joint venture between the local libraryplus centres and the school library, students are required to read a combination of five books during 10 weeks. The books need to come from either the school library,or the Opunake, Manaia or Kaponga libraryplus. For every five books read, the students go in a weekly draw for school canteen vouchers and free books provided by publishers. At the end of the 10 WeekChallenge, all completed challenge cards also go in a major draw for ltunes, Warehouse and phone vouchers.

But wait there's more....students also have the chance to earn freepizza! In conjunction with this challenge the students can participate in the pizza challenge being run for the LIANZA Children's Book Awards. Hell Pizza is offering free pizzas to students who complete the ‘pizza-wheel’ challenge - for every seven books they read they earn a free Hell's pizza.

So no matter how you look at it - the students are the winners.
