Restricted Fire Season for South Taranaki

Pursuant to Section 22(2) of the Forest and Rural Fires Act 1977, notice is given that the lighting of fires in the open air is restricted from midnight Wednesday the 10th of February in the following rural areas of the Taranaki Region.

A Restricted Fire Season means that permits are required for all open air fires.

All residents need to be aware that if they light a fire without a permit, the full costs of extinguishing these fires will be charged to the person responsible.

The only exceptions are gas fired barbecues, incinerators with chimneys and spark arrestors, pizza ovens, or any unit that has a fully enclosed fire box.

Residents requiring a permit, for which there is no charge, should go directly to the TRFA Website apply online.
