Waverley Water Project to Start

Waverley Water Project to Start

Friday, March 28, 2014

A major project to replace around 80% of Waverley’s main water pipes is about to get underway.

The $500,000 South Taranaki District Council (STDC) project has been contracted to Whitaker Civil Engineering who plan to start work in early April.

The project is expected to take around 6 months to complete.  STDC project manager, Cristina Gonzales-Powell says the contractors will move around the town in sections and residents will be notified with a letter before their street is started.

“At times residents may experience some inconvenience with parking and/or access to their property, however every effort will be made to get the work done as quickly as possible, with minimal disruption,” says Mrs Gonzales.

The water main replacement project is the latest the South Taranaki District Council has undertaken to improve the town’s water supply. Previous work has included upgrades to the town’s reservoir and building a new water bore.
