10.00 am-12 noon Heritage Walk with David Bruce, King Edward Park, Hāwera. Meet at the Observatory, have a cuppa and enjoy a walk around
King Edward Park, now one of New Zealand’s Parks of National Significance, and holder of a Green Flag Award, an internationally recognised mark of a quality park or green space.
10.00 am-12 noon Cameron Curd, District Archivist, Aotea Utanganui Museum, Pātea
Cameron will talk about the Hāwera Star Archives and how to use them. This collection spans 138 years from 1880-2018 and the photography collection from approximately 1960’s-1990’s.

The display depicts the history of meat processing from the days of the solo butcher through to the chain system that operated when the Pātea Freezing Works closed its doors.
