NZ Cutting Horse Association Futurity Show

The NZ Cutting Horse Association is running its Futurity Show in Hawera at the A&P Show Grounds, Indoor Arena on Saturday 26thMay 9.30am. Competitors are coming from the South Island and as far north as Whangarei. Entry is free, food will be available. Any information required contact Linley Ladd, 06 7627879 or  0274 445895.

Cutting involves the rider taking the horse into a herd of cattle, picking a cow and bringing it out to the front of the herd, where the rider stops reining, steering and puts down the reins. the horse then must keep the cow from returning to the herd, mirroring each movement.

Each competitor has has two-and-a-half minutes to show the two judges how skillful and able their horse is, and show the horse's ability to control the cow.

there will be events for three-year-old Futurity horses, four-year-old Derby horses,  a classic for five and six-year horses and an open event.
