Volunteers contribute a huge amount to the community and this year to thank them for the work they do the South Taranaki District Council (STDC) is inviting volunteers from across the District to the Everybody’s Theatre in Opunake on 22 June.
South Taranaki Mayor, Ross Dunlop says the event is being held during National Volunteers Week which runs from June 18 to 24.
“Volunteers have the opportunity to choose either a 10am or 1pm screening of the New Zealand movie “The Catch”, produced by Simon Mark-Brown,” says Mayor Dunlop.
“Not only is this an opportunity to thank our communities volunteers, but it’s also a great opportunity to showcase the fantastic work that has been undertaken by the Everybody’s Theatre volunteers who have raised over $800,000 to first earthquake strengthen their community-owned building and then continue the work to undertake an impressive refurbishment,” he says.
“Everybody’s Theatre is a huge asset to the community and this group is an amazing example of what can be achieved in making our community a better place to live.”
Volunteers Day event organiser, Claire Symes, says the Council has sent invitations to a range of organisations, however there may be some they didn’t have the details for.
“If your group or organisation haven’t received an invitation simply phone the Council on 0800 111 323 or email firstname.lastname@example.org ,” she says.
Ticket numbers are limited and they will be allocated on a first in, first served basis.
