Dairy Month In Libraries
Wednesday, June 08, 2011
This month in the South Taranaki Libraries, we are celebrating the dairy industry in our region. We have cheese making opportunities, butter making (with food accompanying it!) Kristelle Plimmer from the South Taranaki Museum is taking us for a trip back in time with some little treasures relating to our humble dairy history.
Just a couple of dairy facts:
At Fonterra’s Taranaki branch, a fleet of more than 145 tankers collect milk daily from 6000 farms in the North Island in a round-the-clock operation. It also has a significant supply in the South Island. Kiwi Dairies processes almost 4 billion litres of milk annually into 300,000 tonnes of dairy products!
Check out the details on the website or pop into your local library and find out what activities are happening close to you.
