Final Stage of Glover Road Upgrade ahead of Schedule
Monday, October 15, 2012
Due to stage 2 being completed ahead of schedule, the 3rd and final stage of the Glover Road Upgrade is planned to start next week – Tuesday 23 October.
South Taranaki District Council roading manager, Vincent Lim, says he had expected Council contractors to start the final stage sometime in early November; however the good weather meant stage 2 was completed well ahead of time.
The last stage of the Glover Road Upgrade is the section from approximately 100m past Alex Taylor Street to Camberwell Road and is expected to take about 4-6 weeks to complete, weather permitting.
The contractors will remove the existing bitumen surface, overlay the road with an additional 100mm of metal, and then re-seal the road.
“The work will be done during daylight hours and two lanes of traffic, with speed restrictions, will be open for most of the time,” says Mr Lim. “However to manage this, roadside parking will not be available along this section of road as it is needed to allow two way traffic to continue,” he says.
“At times motorists and property owners may experience some inconvenience with street parking and/or access, however every effort will be made to get the work done as quickly as possible with minimal disruption.”
