Patea LibraryPlus closed after vandalism
Thursday, April 26, 2018
Overnight vandalism at Pātea LibraryPlus has resulted in the community facility being closed on Thursday.
All office windows were smashed and the cleanup was going to be extensive, says Libraries and Cultural Services Manager Cath Sheard.
“The glass is all through the staff and some of the public areas of the Library so it’s not safe for people to come just yet,” says Cath. “We need to get the glass cleaned up and the windows secured before we can reopen.”
At this stage it is unknown how long the Library might be closed for. We understand the Police are currently talking to a person of interest.
”The community really value this facility and it’s unfortunate that this has occurred,” says Cath.
