In the Museum theatre we are screening the New Zealand Wars 1-5 in commemoration of the South Taranaki Land Wars of 1860-1872. Discover why it was necessary for ancestral Māori to fight, and why after 145 years, their descendants endure. The New Zealand Wars series takes a new look at the history of Māori vs. Pākehā armed conflict, and was written and presented by historian James Belich. Playing daily in the media theatre at Aotea Utanganui Museum of South Taranaki.
Site Visit to Turuturu-Mokai
Saturday 21 October, 10am
Join Te Hapimana King (Aotea Utanganui Education and Activities Officer) at Turuturu-mokai and discover the rich history of this pā site. In commemoration of the South Taranaki Land Wars, Te Hapimana will enlighten you on the significance of the siege fought here in 1868.
