Sounds on the Sand is back again and helping Opunake celebrate 150 years!
The South Taranaki District Council is bringing music to Opunake Beach on Sunday 15 February from 12.30pm.
But before the band kicks off, be sure to join in the 150 years celebrations for Opunake. There will be a bouncy castle as well as sack and three-legged races on the beach before a community picnic at 12noon.
“This is always a fantastic, relaxing day,”says Sounds on the Sand organiser Jody Bloor. “It is great to work with the 150 Years of Opunake District Committee to combine these events. So come along, bring the kids and a picnic. Sit back and relax, enjoying the sounds from the band ‘The Blistered Fingers’ and the waves crashing on the beach.”
The Blistered Fingers play rock ‘n roll, blues and a collection of classic rock ‘n roll covers from the 60s and 70s. Their style incorporates a more modern take on the classics, changing songs up a bit to give a bit of their own taste.
If you want to take the hassle out of packing your own picnic then take advantage of the Opunake High School hangi which you need to pre order, phone 027 455 2217 or how about a delicious pre-packed picnic from Headlands 06 761 8358 or Sandfords Event Centre café, Soul Kitchen 027 935 6191.
“All we need now is some great summer weather like we had last year.”
