Calling all tribal rugby enthusiasts
Monday, May 14, 2012
Taranaki Maori Rugby Football Union’s Tom Katene will be sharing his most fond rugby recollections at Aotea Utanganui – Museum of South Taranaki.
Tom will be at the museum in Patea on Sunday 20 May from 2pm – 4pm talking about his memories of Maori rugby in the south, and the Union’s plan to reinvigorate the game so that today’s young people can ‘enjoy a game on the paddock’.
Tom’s talk supports the photographs and memorabilia from the It’s not just a game: Whanau, Whakapapa, Whutupaoro exhibition from Puke Ariki on display now at Aotea Utanganui.
If you played tribal, were a supporter, or stayed home and peeled the spuds for kai afterwards - come along and share your memories. If you have some photos or trophies to share with the group, even better. We hope to see you on the day – everyone is welcome.
Aotea Utanganui – Museum of South Taranaki: open 10am-4pm seven days a week.
