Nominations open for Egmont Plains Community Board

Nominations open for Egmont Plains Community Board

Tuesday, December 02, 2014

Due to Egmont Plains Community Board member Sharon Arlidge unfortunately leaving the district to move to Wanaka with her family, we need to fill the space on the Board left by her.
There will be a By-Election held by postal vote on Wednesday 11 February next year and we are currently looking for candidates who wish to stand and make a difference in the community.
The role of a community board includes; representing the interests of the community, considering and reporting on matters referred to it by the Council, maintaining an overview of Council services to the community, preparing an annual submission to the Council for its annual plan, communicating with communtiy organisations and special interest groups.
Community Boards meet every six weeks. Currently, the Egmont Plains Community Board meets on a Wednesday morning at 9.30am at Sandfords Event Centre. Meetings are generally made up of funding applications and updates of Council-wide projects as well as progress reports on projects in the area, activities within the LibraryPlus centres and usage statistics for community assets. From time to time, the Council refers local issues for consideration and seek recommendations from the Community Board.
If this sounds like you - nominations are now open and need to be received by 12noon on Tuesday 16 December and handed into either the South Taranaki District Council Administration Building, Albion St, Hawera or New Plymouth District Council, Liardet St, New Plymouth.
