Postal services to continue in Opunake

Monday, March 16, 2015

New Zealand Post today (Friday13 March) announced that Opunake retailer Pastimes, on 87 Tasman St, will provide postal services on its behalf from 30 March 2015.

The new arrangement was negotiated following news the Opunake Post and Lotto Shop is closing its doors.

New Zealand Post General Manager, Franchise and Agency Network, Jon Andrews, has thanked Opunake Post and Lotto Shop franchisees, Graeme and Judy Dodd, for providing more than 30 years of service to New Zealand Post, its customers, and the Opunake community.

“Graeme and Judy leave big shoes to fill, but we are confident we will be able to transition our postal services to Rosie Corkill and the team at Pastimes with minimal disruption to our customers.

New Zealand Post has been working with Graeme and Judy Dodd over a number of weeks to identify a new operator to provide postal services in Opunake on its behalf.

While full postal and courier services will be retained in Opunake, customers looking to access bill payment and Western Union services will need to visit the Statford, Westown or Hawera PostShops from 30 March 2015.

PO Boxes will remain in their current location until the transition to the new franchisee is complete. NewZealand Post expects to relocate the box lobby to the new site within six weeks. Its customers will be kept informed ahead of the move.
