Proposed 2015-2025 Long Term Plan out now

Proposed 2015-2025 Long Term Plan out now

Wednesday, March 25, 2015

Public consultation on the Council’s proposed 2015 – 2025 Long Term Plan started on Monday 30 March and runs until Wednesday 6 May.

A long term plan Consultation Document will be delivered to South Taranaki households in early April.

This document is a summary of the Council’s Proposed Long Term Plan and outlines the key issues, projects and services the Council intends on carrying out over the next ten years – along with the impact on rates. It’s important because it provides an opportunity for residents to have a say on the services Council provides and the rates we pay.

In the Plan, the Council is proposing a modest 2.5% average annual rate increase over the next ten years, which is less than the Local Government rate of inflation. As part of the Long Term Plan Council is also consulting specifically on four proposals:

  • HaweraTown Centre Development
  • A new Library, arts, culture and public space
  • An earthquake prone buildings Assistance Package
  • District walkways and cycleways projects
