The Cup that stops a nation is coming to South Taranaki on Friday 7 and Saturday 8 October as part of the Emirates Melbourne Cup Tour 2011.

The Cup will travel to Waverley, home of the 1983 Melbourne Cup winner Kiwi where it will be on display at the Waverley Primary School from 9.00am to 10.30am and members of the public are most welcome to come along. It will then head up to Hawera to be on public show in the Town Square from 12.00pm to 2.00pm where you can also check out the running of the Hawera Hobby Horse Handicap in the Town Square. From there it will be heading out the Egmont Racing Club where the Cup will be a part of proceedings on race day (Saturday) before heading to Auckland after lunch. Along with the 2011 Melbourne Cup, Kiwi’s 1983 Melbourne Cup and Trainer’s Cup, winning rug and other memorabilia will also be on display. The Cup is only travelling to three areas in New Zealand with Wellington and Auckland being the other two – this is a unique opportunity not to be missed.
