UPDATE: Sorry - registrations for the Bringing Back Aunt Daisy are closed, as we have reached capacity!

The Hawera Genealogy Society are holding their first Heritage and Family History Week during 1-7 April and the Council’s LibraryPlus centres and Aotea Utanganui are supporting this with displays, talks and activities.

One such event is “Bringing Back Aunt Daisy”.

Bringing Back Aunty Daisy is a not so “live broadcast” of the iconic radio programmes presented by Maud Basham (Aunt Daisy).

Hawera’s Vivienne Taylor has taken on the task of performing as Aunt Daisy programme, and delivering a programme with guest appearances from Celine Filbee and Don Stockwell who will cook and make sausages from Aunt Daisy’s original recipe books.

Our Aunt Daisy will also provide pieces from her scrapbook, handy hints and the patter which made her programme an instant hit with listeners for almost 30 years from the 1930’s.

This free event will be a fun and wistful performance celebrating the good old days before plastic, processed food and supermarkets were the norm.

So if you would like some handy tips, recipes, taste testing and cooking demos as well as displays to view and audio tracks to listen to please RSVP to by 27 March.

Bringing Back Aunt Daisy will be on Wednesday 3 April, 10am-12:30pm at the Community Centre, Albion Street, Hawera.
