Experience the thrill without the chill

The TSB Hub will be transforming into a winter wonderland with the Ice Skate Tour coming in July.
The synthetic ice skating rink will be in Hawera for a fortnight, offering South Taranaki residents a rare chance to have a go at a much loved sport.
“We are so excited to be offering South Taranaki residents this truly unique opportunity,” says Events Co-ordinator Jody Bloor. “It’s an incredible family friendly activity to add to our events calendar this year.”
“Because the rink is synthetic, it means that it’s not cold – but don’t be fooled, you can still slip over!” she says. “It’s pretty close to skating on natural ice. It’s slightly slower (97% same gliding capacity as natural ice) and a bit easier for beginners as it’s not so slippery. It looks like ice, skates like ice – but is not ice!”
Not only will there be public sessions through the two weeks, but also selected Year 5 and 6 students from 22 schools throughout the district will be having classes during the last week of the school term.
Thanks to the support of the TSB Community Trust, the school classes are fully subsidised and the public sessions will be offered at a much discounted rate. Ice skates, helmets and gloves are provided at the rink as part of the admission fee.
The Ice Skate Tour will be in Hawera from Monday 3 to Sunday 16 July. Mark the dates in your diary now!
