Glover Road Upgrade - stage 2
Tuesday, September 18, 2012
Next Wednesday (26 September) work is planned to start on stage 2 of the 3 stage Glover Road Upgrade.
South Taranaki District Council roading manager, Vincent Lim, says stage 2 involves upgrading the section of Glover Road between the roundabout and approximately 100 metres past Alex Taylor Street.
The contractors will remove the existing bitumen surface, overlay the road with an additional 100mm of metal, and then re-seal the road. The work is programmed to be finished by 7 November, though Mr Lim says this will be dependent on the weather.
“The work will be done during daylight hours and two lanes of traffic, with speed restrictions, will be open for the majority of the time. However to accommodate this, roadside parking will not be available along this section of road as it is needed to allow two way traffic to continue,” says Mr Lim.
“At times motorists and property owners may experience some inconvenience with street parking and/or access, however every effort will be made to get the work done as quickly as possible with minimal disruption,” he says.
The contract that has been let to Inframax Construction Ltd also includes upgrading the remaining section of Glover Road between Alex Taylor Street and Camberwell Road. This final stage of the contract is planned to start sometime in November.
