Glover Road Upgrade
Tuesday, May 22, 2012
Work is starting next Monday 28 May to upgrade the section of Glover Road between Cambria Street and Camberwell Road as part of the South Taranaki District Council’s ongoing road maintenance programme.
STDC roading manager, Vincent Lim, says the contractors will remove the existing bitumen surface, overlay the road with an additional 100mm of metal, and then re-seal the road. The work is programmed to be finished by 30 June, though Mr Lim says this will be dependent on the weather.
“The road will still be open however there will be speed restrictions while the work takes place,” says Mr Lim. “At times motorists and property owners may experience some inconvenience with street parking and/or access, however every effort will be made to get the work done as quickly as possible with minimal disruption,” he says.
The contract that has been let to Inframax Construction Ltd also includes upgrading the section of Glover Road from the round-a-bout to approximately 100m past Alex Taylor Street. This section of the contract will not start until later this year and will be completed before Christmas 2012.
If you have any queries or concerns about this project, please don’t hesitate to contact project manager, Ross McCoy, on 278 2110.
