RURAL FIRE NOTICE
RESTRICTED FIRE SEASON
Under Section 22(2) of the Forest and Rural Fires Act 1977, notice is given that the lighting of fires in the open air is restricted from midnight Friday 23 January 2015, within the entireTaranaki Region.
The land area under the control of the Eltham Drainage Committee has a year round Restricted Fire Season.
A restricted fire season means that permits are required for all open air fires.
All residents need to be aware that if they light a fire without a permit, the full costs of extinguishing these fires will be charged to the property owner.
Residents requiring a permit, for which there is no charge, should contact their Local Council office or go directly to the Taranaki Rural Fire Authority (TRFA) website www.alright2light.co.nz and apply online.
These restrictions shall remain in force until rescinded by a further public notice.
If you are applying for a permit, please allow at least 5 working days' notice so that an inspection can be arranged. Inspections will only be undertaken on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
