South Taranaki gets Olympic experience

Tuesday, July 24, 2012

Olympic fever hits this week when the Samsung Experience Truck rolls into town.  Sport Taranaki and the New Zealand Olympic Committee are bringing the truck to Taranaki so locals can get involved in the lead up to the London 2012 Olympics by exploring the truck and its contents.

The 18-metre long, 28-tonne truck is travelling through the country and features a range of interactive digital experiences using the latest Samsung technology.  It is designed to educate Kiwis about New Zealand’s Olympic History.  On board you can search through the Olympic Museum App, use the Great Olympic Moments App to watch videos of some of our greatest gold medal moments, or watch videos of high profile New Zealanders talking about when they were most Proud to be a New Zealander.

The Olympic experience is complete with displays including Peter Snell’s shoes, Valerie Adams shot put, replica gold medals and Olympic torches. You can also get your photo taken to create your own gold medal moment.  Sport Taranaki CEO, Howie Tamati, says “We are very proud to have this opportunity for the Taranaki community to enjoy the Samsung Truck and I encourage everyone who can to visit the truck while it is here.”

The Truck will be on display in Hawera on Sunday 29 July at TSB Hub, Hawera from 10am – 2pm.
