Strongman to flex muscles at Hawera Show
Wednesday, October 05, 2011
He’s the face – and muscle – behind Mitre 10 Mega’s unique advertising and he’s coming to Hawera next month to take on the locals of all sizes and ages at the Egmont A&P Show.
Strongman Levi Vaoga, who stands 198cm tall and weighs 173kg, is looking forward to getting pumped up and proving he’s one of the strongest men in the world.
His question is… just how strong are you?
Throughout Saturday at the Show Levi will be hosting and performing a range of strongman activities, including the chance for local strongmen and women to show their stuff by attempting to pull the 750kg Filbee and Associates Mercedes Smartcar.
He will also show just how effortlessly he can pull the Ivan Jones Engineering Dodge truck which weighs two and a half tonne.
Young fans will also get the chance to get up close and personal with the hulking Mr Mega when he visits the Classic Hits Kidzone during the day and he will be a guest of honour at the Show parade.
Levi says he is working hard to become the strongest man in the world since, a dream he has had since childhood.
“From the age of nine, I had this dream of becoming the World’s strongest man,” he says.
In 1998 he started competing on the world strongman circuit and has been recognised in the world rankings ever since, once reaching as high as 6th in the world.
His size and agility also led him to try his hand – and the rest of this body – at the traditional art of Japanese Sumo wrestling.
