TrustPower begins community consultation for proposed local wind farm
Tuesday, October 30, 2012
TrustPower is proposing to build a Wind Farm near Patea and Waverley. The proposed Wind Farm’s 980 hectare site borders the Tasman Sea and Whenuakura River, approximately six kilometres south-east of Patea and seven kilometres south-west of Waverley. The Wind Farm would have no more than 48 turbines, each with a maximum height from ground to blade tip of 160 metres and would be constructed across four private properties.
TrustPower plans to lodge its resource consent application with the Taranaki Regional Council and South Taranaki District Council, sometime in March 2013.
In the period leading up to March, TrustPower are holding a series of public information events about the proposed wind farm including: Community information and feedback meetings, an open day, and an information stall at the Waverley A&P Show. Further information is also available on TrustPower’s website and on an online forum set up on Facebook (see details below).
The first community information and feedback evening is scheduled for Wednesday 31 October 2012 at the Waverley Community Centre at 5:30pm, followed by an evening on Thursday 22 November at the Patea Old Folks Assn Hall, Egmont St, Patea from 5 – 8pm (brief presentations will start at 6pm).
