Ōpunakē Water Supply – Please Conserve
Following this weekend’s intense rainfall, the Waiaua River, the water source for the town, is still recovering from erosion and heavy silt. This means it’s more difficult to get the water needed for treatment as the intake works are being impacted even though the rain has passed for a while.
As more rain is forecast mid-week please conserve water and fix any leaks now so there is enough water for everyone. Please keep doing this into next weekend – 25 July.
The water is safe to drink although it may be slightly discoloured at times.
Our team are working hard to keep water flowing however your help would be much appreciated in reducing demand and losses.
Thank you, STDC Water Team.
