Strong Wind Watch - 8 & 9 July 2026

MetService has placed Taranaki under a strong wind watch (yellow) between 6pm Wednesday 8 July, to 6pm Thursday 9 July. This has a chance of being upgraded to a warning.
Please take extra care during this time. In these conditions, we recommend:
- Avoiding visiting parks and reserves until conditions ease, as there is an increased risk of falling trees and branches.
- Putting your bins out only on the morning of your collection (not the night before) and bring them in as soon as they're emptied (if possible).
- Securing any loose outdoor items around your home.
- Taking extra care on the roads and driving to the conditions.
- Reporting any damage to public services/areas by phoning 0800 111 323.
