Learn to Swim
How do I enrol my child?
To enrol your child or get more information, please phone (06) 278 0021 or email us.
How much do lessons cost and how do I pay?
The cost of Learn to Swim lessons are $9.50 per lesson per child. Lessons are run in line with school terms. We ask for payment (8/10 weeks depending on the length of the term) in full at the time of booking. Payments can be made at the Hawera Aquatic Centre between 8.30am and 6.30pm. You can also arrange a direct debit payment.
What can I expect on the first day of class?
On the first day, arrive early and get changed into your swim wear making sure you are ready on time. You will meet your instructor and they will assess your current ability level and self assurance.
When will my child move to the next level?
This is a skill-based programme, so children will move to the next level based on the assessment and attainment of the required skills rather than on the completion of a course of lessons. To provide you high quality results, the Swim School reserves the right to change you child’s course to the appropriate level.
If my child misses a class, can we make it up later?
Please ring us if your child will be absent. These lessons can be made up during the term where space is available in the same level on a different day.
Can I get refunded?
We do not offer refunds for lessons in the event of sickness but in instances where your child is going to be away for a number of sequential lessons due to illness or injury (broken arm etc) then we may offer make up lessons. Refunds are only offered to these moving from the district or for long term illness.
Who are the swim instructors?
Swim instructors are trained using the AUSTSWIM internationally accredited programme. All of our instructors undertake regular training and professional development. They are a friendly bunch and always happy to help and answer any questions.
