The Learn to Swim Programme is for children ages 4 and above that builds on the foundations covered in Aquatots. Each of these nine classes (see below) cover specific skill sets and children move up into the next class once they’ve mastered each of them.

From 1 July 2019, the cost of swim school lessons are $9.00 per week per child. We ask for payment (8/10 weeks depending on the length of the term) in full at the time of booking. Payments can be made at Hāwera Aquatic Centre reception between 8.30am and 7pm. You can also arrange a direct debit payment.
On the first day, arrive early and get changed into your swim wear making sure you are ready on time. You will meet your instructor and they will assess your current ability level and self assurance.
This is a skill-based programme, so children will move to the next level based on the assessment and attainment of the required skills rather than on the completion of a course of lessons. To provide you high quality results, the Swim School reserves the right to change you child’s course to the appropriate level.
Please ring us if your child will be absent. Up to two make up lessons are offered in school holidays for children who have missed lessons due to illness
We do not offer refunds for lessons in the event of sickness but in instances where your child is going to be away for a number of sequential lessons due to illness or injury (broken arm etc) then we may offer make up lessons. Refunds are only offered to these moving from the district or for long term illness.
Swim instructors are trained using the AUSTSWIM internationally accredited programme. All of our instructors undertake regular training and professional development. They are a friendly bunch and always happy to help and answer any questions.
