South Taranaki Pound Information

During the festive season, the Pound will only be open on weekdays (not including public holidays) so if your dog gets impounded, it will only be available to be picked up on the next open day.
The district pound is located on Beach Road, Hāwera (off Fairfield Road) and is open to the public between 1 - 2pm on weekdays.
Impounded dogs are not able to be released on weekends or public holidays when the pound is closed.
At present, there is no SPCA facility located within South Taranaki. The nearest SPCA is in New Plymouth, located at: 75 Colson Road, Waiwhakaiho, New Plymouth 4372

Dog Impounding Fees
When the cost of animal management, enforcement and related processes exceeds the stated fee (minimum charge), the Council may recover all additional costs on a time and cost basis. Note: Dogs must be registered by three months of age.
