An independent qualified person (IQP) is accepted by a council or a territorial authority as being qualified to carry out, supervise and certify inspections, maintenance and reporting procedures on specified systems for buildings.
Palmerston North City Council maintains the Central IQP Register on behalf of the Central IQP Registration Panel, which currently consists of the following territorial authorities:
- Palmerston North City Council
- Manawatū District Council
- New Plymouth District Council
- South Taranaki District Council
- Stratford District Council
- Tararua District Council
- Whanganui District Council
