Wanted Chairperson – Hāwera Cinema 2 Trust

Hāwera Cinema 2 Trust is seeking a Chairperson to join the team of five Trustees following the retirement of our Chairperson after 10 years’ service.

This is a voluntary position, where you can bring your skills and experience to the role and give back to the community. The Trustees meet monthly and you could expect to contribute 3-4 hours a month to this role.

Currently, the cinema has two cinemas and last year opened a lounge bar for patrons and for the general public to socialise before a movie, or just come in casually and have a drink and snacks. The cinema plays an important social role in our community, connecting people, providing a platform for socialisation and attracting prospective families to Hāwera.

The Trust is looking for an enthusiastic person - not necessarily a cinema lover, but it would be great if you were - with governance, financial and management skills. The last few years have been very demanding for the Cinema, as with many businesses, and the challenge for the Trust is to appoint a dedicated Chairperson who has the ability to move the business forward and to continue to grow admissions and revenue with the support of the Trustees.
