Open Day at Eltham Community Garden

Ekai, Eltham’s Community Garden who grow food for the community and supply the Eltham Foodbank since 2013, are hosting an Open Day and want you to come along.

South Taranaki District Council places and spaces volunteer co-ordinator Alice Arnold will be on site on Friday 8 August along with a team of cadets to give guidance on garden tasks, volunteer opportunities and answer any questions.

“It is a fantastic community garden, and we want to encourage support for the volunteers that look after the space and spark interest from new volunteers in community who want to join in, “she says. “Volunteers have changed hands over the years with many dedicated hours spent maintaining and enhancing the space.”

Drop in any time between 11am and 3.30pm. All tools and equipment needed will be on-site to use during the open day.

“Come and lend a helping hand as well as learn some new skills that you can use for your own home garden,” says Alice.
