Rubbish and Recycling
Para me te hangarua
The South Taranaki District Council takes waste very seriously.
The Council provides the district’s communities with a cost effective and eco-friendly system of waste management that includes; refuse collection and disposal, a kerbside recycling service, transfer stations with free recycling drop-off, and a voluntary green waste service.
Rubbish and Recycling during the COVID-19 lockdown
We will only be collecting the red-lid general waste kerbside wheelie bins, because we can’t send our recycling to the recycling facility. This means we won’t be taking the blue (glass) crates or yellow lid recycling wheelie bins, or the green waste bins. All waste will be sent to landfill for the time being.
We’re encouraging people to compost their green waste, food scraps and store other recyclables for now, but put them in the red lid general waste wheelie bin if you can’t. We need you to keep hold of your glass until we can recycle it again.
All Transfer Stations remain closed to the public during lockdown. They will be open to essential businesses and those who can't normally access the kerbside collection. Eftpos only please.
