I’ve lived in Hawera my whole life, it’s been an amazing place to raise my family. For 32 years I owned and operated a successful electrical contracting & servicing business. Now that I’m recently retired, I have more time to give back to the community that’s supported me for so long.
I’ve always enjoyed being involved locally — I spent six years on the Turuturu School Board of Trustees, twelve years on the Bizlink Committee & served as Commodore of the Patea Boat Club for five years. I’ve just wrapped up my fifteenth year on the committee there. I’m still as passionate as ever about keeping our town vibrant & connected.
I love talking with people, hearing what matters to them & building strong relationships. My vision for Hawera is simple: promote growth, support local initiatives & help make sure our town stays a place we’re all proud to call home.

Hawera is my home, and I’m passionate about helping our community grow and thrive. I’ve proudly served on the Hawera Business Association for many years and coached local football teams, supporting youth development and community spirit. I currently serve as Chair of Te Ara Pae Trust, which provides much-needed counselling and support services in our region. I’m also an active member of the Hawera Lions Club and was honoured to be elected Head of Lions New Zealand by the Council of Governors.
These roles reflect my commitment to leadership, service, and creating real impact. I want Hawera to continue being a place where young families feel supported to raise their children and enjoy the opportunities this town has given me and my own family.
I offer practical experience, community connection, and a vision for a vibrant, inclusive Hawera. Let’s build that future together.

For nearly 20 years my husband and I have proudly called Hāwera home, raising our five children and building our lives in a community that has given so much to our whānau.
I’m standing for the Te Hāwera Community Board as an advocate for strong local voices and a thirving future for our community.
Through my work with Ngāruahine Health Services, my role on the board of Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Ngāti Ruanui and my experience as a Chartered Accountant and small business owner - I walk alongside whānau, community organisations and local leaders every day. I bring fresh energy, a grounded perspective and a commitment to turning community aspirations into action.
I would be honoured to serve our community.

Background
As a result of the resignation of a member, an extraordinary vacancy has occurred in the Te Hāwera Community Board of South Taranaki District Council. Under section 120 of the Local Electoral Act 2001, notice is given that on Wednesday 7 October 2026, a by-election will be held under the first-past-the-post electoral system by postal vote for one member of the Te Hāwera Community Board.

Who can vote?
Those eligible to vote are all resident electors and nonresident ratepayer electors in Te Hāwera ward whose names appear on the electoral roll when it closed on Tuesday 28 July 2026.
The Preliminary Electoral Roll will be available for public inspection from Tuesday 30 June 2026 to Tuesday 28 July 2026.
Resident Roll: All parliamentary electors, including those on the Māori Electoral Roll, are automatically enrolled on the Resident Roll, at the address where they live.
Any alterations to the Resident Roll (e.g. change of address details, including new postal addresses) should be made by:

Ratepayer Roll: If a person is on the parliamentary roll in one area and pays rates on a property in another area, this person may be eligible to be enrolled on the nonresident Ratepayer Roll. A firm, company, corporation or society paying rates on a property may nominate one of its members or officers as a ratepayer elector (provided the nominated person resides outside the area).
