Your vote matters more than ever in this year’s Local Body Elections. You're not just choosing your Mayor, Councillors, and Community Board members — you're also deciding on the future of Māori representation through the Māori Ward Referendum.
These elected representatives will shape decisions that directly impact you, your whānau, and your community. Choose wisely.
How to Vote:
There are several easy ways to ensure your vote is counted:
- Post your voting papers in a post box or at a Post Shop before Tuesday 7 October.
- Drop them off at a ballot box before 12noon, Saturday 11 October, at:
- The Council Administration Building, Albion Street, Hāwera (which will be also open on Saturday 11 October between 9am – 12noon)
- Your local LibraryPlus (click here to see opening days and hours)
- Participating supermarkets or Four Square shops across the District
- Drive-thru voting will be available on Albion Street, Hāwera (both lanes) outside the Hāwera Administration Building on Saturday 11 October only, between 9am – 12noon.
Need a Special Vote?
If you haven’t received your voting papers, you can still vote via the Special Vote process. It’s simple:
- Visit the Hāwera Administration Building or your local LibraryPlus
- Ask to speak with an Electoral Official
Please note: Special Votes must be completed before 12 noon on Saturday 11 October to be counted. They can take a little longer to process, so we recommend doing this as soon as possible.
