Kia ora everyone,
Please be aware that the public carpark between Hāwera Cinemas and the RSA on Princes Street will be temporarily closed on 1-2 December (weather permitting), while contractors remove the eight cabbage trees next to the RSA.
The carpark will remain closed overnight between the Monday (1 December) and Tuesday (2 December).
At times you may experience some inconvenience with noise and parking, however every effort will be made to get the work done as quickly as possible, with minimal disruption. Alternative car parking is available on Napier Street and Albion Street.
Access will remain open to the nearby businesses during their usual operating hours, however the Princes Street entrance door to the Council Administration building will be closed. Please use the entrance on Albion Street as an alternative.
The trees are being removed as they are reaching the end of their natural life and are showing signs of rot. The replacement species is yet to be decided, but we aim to plant native trees that are suitable to the location.
Thanks for your patience while we get this work done.
