Refreshing Hāwera's Street Furniture

If you’re strolling through the Hāwera town centre, take a moment to check out the fresh new look of our street furniture. Refurbishment and repainting of the bins, bollards and seats has recently been completed and the furniture is sporting its new colour.

After thirty plus years holding the weight of our local community, some of our town seating was due a bit of polish, as well as to support the freshness and newness of Te Ramanui o Ruapūtahanga, and we think the result is looking sharp!

It has truly become a team effort, with Bizlink having the idea and providing materials for staining the seats, the Normanby and District Lions delivering the mahi on the ground, and Council carrying out the essential refurbishment work, including replacing the old and worn wooden seat slats.

This project is a small but meaningful part of our wider town revitalisation strategy for Hāwera, focused on keeping our town centre welcoming, functional and vibrant for everyone.

The final phase of the CBD furniture facelift will be the replacement of the green streetlights. This work is likely to start rolling out within the next couple of months.
