South Taranaki September School Holiday Programme Out Now (2026)
Families across South Taranaki can look forward to another fun-filled school holiday break, with the latest edition of the Happening Holidays school holiday programme out now. Packed with activities to keep tamariki entertained, from arts and crafts to sports, movies, games and more, we've got the holidays covered.
Happening Holidays is South Taranaki District Council's handy guide to what's happening across the district during the school break, featuring activities at all seven LibraryPlus centres, the Hāwera Aquatic Centre, and a variety of community-led events. Whether your tamariki enjoy getting crafty, playing sport, watching movies, trying something new, or simply having fun with friends, there's something to suit every age and interest.
Council Events Coordinator Hannah Hancock says Happening Holidays continues to be a favourite with local whānau.
"We know school holidays can be a busy time for families, so Happening Holidays is all about making it easy to find local and affordable activities. With arts and crafts, sports, movies, workshops, games and plenty more on offer, we've got the holidays covered and there really is something for everyone."
Parents and caregivers are reminded that registrations or permission slips are required for some activities, as outlined in the programme. Bookings can be made at the Hāwera isite, TSB Hub, or at your local LibraryPlus. Some activities have limited spaces available, so early booking is recommended.

Council is also encouraging community groups, clubs and organisations to get involved in future editions of Happening Holidays.
