Strong Winds Safety Notice - 26 June 2026

We hope you’re all staying safe and warm in today’s blustery conditions.

With strong winds affecting the district, please take extra care if you’re out and about—particularly in our public spaces. We encourage you to:

• Avoid visiting parks and reserves until conditions ease, as there is an increased risk of falling trees and branches.
• Secure any loose outdoor items around your home.
• Take extra care on the roads and drive to the conditions.
• Report any damage to public services/areas by phoning 0800 111 323.

Please also note that today’s kerbside collection has been postponed until tomorrow (Saturday 27 June). The Hāwera Transfer Station also remains closed and will be open again tomorrow with extended hours (8.30am - 5pm).
