Arts in the Park

King Edward Park, High Street, Hāwera

Hāwera’s iconic King Edward Park bursts into life on the first Saturday of each December for the much-loved Arts in the Park. The park transforms into a hub of colour and craftsmanship, with stalls scattered around the Park showcasing unique, handmade arts and crafts. Food trucks and live entertainment keep the atmosphere buzzing throughout the day. This free event is the perfect way to kick off the holiday season—mark your calendar and join us for a day of art, music, and family fun!

Paepae in the Park - Pātea

Paepae in the Park is a whānau-friendly free music festival to celebrate Te Tiriti o Waitangi. Held every year on Waitangi Day (the 6th February) under the world famous Aotea Waka, Pātea

Programmes

Arts Lease Programme

The South Taranaki District Council calls for visual art submissions from South Taranaki artists for lease and display in the Council’s Administration Building in Hāwera. The Art Lease Programme was established in 1996 to support and nurture our creative community. The foyer gallery enables us to showcase a selection of work from our talented artists and offer their work for sale with no commission taken. To qualify for the Art Lease Programme, artists must reside within the South Taranaki District boundaries.

Closing dates for submissions are in mid-June each year.
