Description/history: Learn about Pātea’s rich history and follow the lower end of the Pātea River through pastures and pine forest to several points of interest dating back to the 1860s.
Points of interest: Main features are stories from the Pātea wharf and port, the meat industry, Wai o Turi Marae, Haere Hau Pā and Dawsons Redoubt.
Dangers/warnings/things to be aware of: If entering the walkway from the York Street entry, there is a steep climb which can be muddy and slippery in wet weather.
Type of footwear required: Sturdy walking shoes.
Accessibility: Suitable for walkers. Wheelchair and mobility scooter accessible on certain sections of the track. Dogs allowed on a lead and under control at all times.
