Active Supervision and Ratios
South Taranaki District Council Public Swimming Pools Bylaw prevents any child under the age of eight entering a pool without a supervisor 16 years or older. Active supervision means that they are ready to respond immediately and are within easy reachable distance from the swimmer. The supervisor must be within or around the same pool as the child and not be distracted (i.e. not reading a book etc). Leaflets ‘Your Child, Your Responsibility’ are available at reception for further information about this Bylaw and on users responsibilities.
