Stormwater

South Taranaki District Council has stormwater assets in the following urban areas.

  • Eltham
  • Kaponga
  • Normanby
  • Hāwera
  • Ohawe
  • Ōpunakē
  • Manaia
  • Pātea
  • Waverley
  • Waitotara
  • Wai-inu Beach

Rural areas are not serviced by Council.

The aim of the stormwater activity is to prevent flooding of properties whenever possible. In extreme events, it is still possible that flooding will occur. Our changing climate means that more heavy rainfall events are to be expected in the future.

Drains may be the responsibility of either South Taranaki District Council, Taranaki Regional Council, NZTA, or private property owners. If in doubt about ownership, call us on 0800 111 323 to confirm.
