Rates Rebates
Take kaunihera whakahokinga
The Rates Rebate Scheme was established in 1973 by the Government to provide a subsidy to low-income homeowners on the cost of their rates.
What's News?
From 1 July 2025, the income threshold for SuperGold Cardholders has increased. This means you may now qualify for a rebate even if you didn’t before.
Are you eligible?
You can apply for a rates rebate if:
- You’re on a low income (use the online calculator to check your eligibility and estimate your rebate).
- You pay rates on the home you live in.
- You were living at that address on 1 July 2026.
- Your name is on the rates bill, or you live in an “owner-occupier flat” and contribute to the rates (proof required).
The maximum rebate given for 2026/27 is $830.00. The closing date for applications is 30 June 2027.
If you are not sure whether you are eligible to apply call us on (06) 278 0555 or toll free on 0800 111 323 or go to the website to see their example tables.
